Estelle Hieger

Estelle Hieger, age 97, of Burleson, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022. Estelle was born May 2, 1924 in Boston, MA to Basil and Xanthe Galloucis. Married William "Bill" Hieger on May 18, 1949 and raised her family in Richmond, Indiana. She graduated from Earlham College after her sons were in Junior High and Highschool receiving her degree in elementary education. She went on to receive her Masters Degree from Ball State University. She taught in Richmond Community schools until retirement in 1995. She loved to travel and her greatest adventure was to Greece to see the birthplace of her parents. She moved in 2011 to make her home in Texas with her children. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet afghan for almost everyone she knew. She was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Worth, Tx where she was a member of the St. Barbara's Philoptochos Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Bill Jr.; and sister, Diana Giunta. She is survived by son, Paul of Fort Worth, Tx, son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Leeann of Burleson, Tx; grandson, Erich and wife, Susan of Fort Worth, Tx; granddaughter, Kate Pool and husband, Joel of North Richland Hills, Tx; granddaughter Megan of Fort Worth, Tx; granddaughter, Christine of Stevensville, MI; granddaughter, Michelle of Webster, IN; great grandchildren, Abigail, Elyse, Caleb, Alexia, Jacob, and Roark; brother, Harry Galloucis of Boston, Ma; sister, Pauline Stanton, Boston, Ma; and many nieces and nephews.

A prayer service for Estelle will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2020 NW 21st St., Fort Worth, TX 76164. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
