Eula was born June 20, 1918 in LaRue, Texas to Edward Marvin and Eula Ruth (Gibbs) Burgamy. She grew up on a farm near Athens Texas with her brothers. Soon after graduating from high school, she married Hewitt Tullos and had two daughters, Linda and Margie. In 1950, Hewitt passed away. Eula remarried in 1953 to Robert Gilmore. They had one daughter, Debra. In 1980, after nearly twenty-three years of civil service, Eula retired early from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Her husband Bob passed away in 1986.
Eula was a bold, caring woman who often helped others in times of need. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1985, she fought hard and beat it. And her adventurous spirit led her to travel the world with her friends and family (and take up skiing when she turned 50). She loved cooking, gardening, and always had a deep love of nature: she once designed and built a cabin near the Big Thicket National Preserve.
Eula is preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Ruth; her brothers Emory, Elton, Edward, and Ellis; and her daughter Margie Aguilar. She is survived by daughters Linda Bingham and Debbie Lackovic; sons-in-law Mike Aguilar and Mike Lackovic; her grandchildren Tammie Bingham, Michael Aguilar, Vince Bingham, Tonya Moctezuma, and Thomas Polk; five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Her life was filled with joy and laughter, and she left this world knowing she was loved dearly and completely by her many friends and family.
