

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evans Murdock Risher, who departed from this world on June 5, 2025, at the age of 68. Born to the union of Thomas Lewis and Lue Ellen Risher Sr., on June 1, 1957, in Gifford, South Carolina. Evans grew up surrounded by love and a strong sense of family.
He attended Fort Worth I.S.D. public schools and Graduated from Polytechnical High School. Evans further his education, attending and Graduated from Polytechnical High School. Evans further his education attending and Graduating from UT Arlington with a degree in Journalism/Videographer. He played on the basketball team in High School and College. Evans interned a Channel 11 and was later hired as a Cameraman. Ambitious to learn and do more, Evans sought a greater challenge with more opportunities and was hired by Channel 8 (WFAA) as a Photojournalist. Evans covered several stories in his life with WFAA, there is one that stands the test of time, and that was the Branch Davidian Compound 51-day standoff in Waco, Texas in 1993. Yes, Evans was there. He covered many, many Dallas Cowboy games and other games throughout his Career. Evans accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. During his 65 years there, he served as a Youth Usher, member of the Youth Department, Choir Member, Male Chorus, a Deacon ad all around handyman. Evans was a beloved husband, Father, brother, son, uncle, grandfather, friend and confidant whose warmth, laughter and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Throughout his life, he demonstrated unwavering loyalty and compassion, always putting others before himself. Whether he was sharing stories that brought smiles to our faces or lending support during difficult times, he had the unique ability to uplift those around him. Evans had deep passion for the Church, Photography, Sports and Music, which he pursued with dedication and joy. His talents were evident in everything he did, and he inspired those around him to follow their own dreams. He was also known for his generosity, humor, resilience, and compassion, leaving a lasting impression on anyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Family was the cornerstone of Evans's life, and he cherished every moment spent with loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Washington- Moss Risher; children, James Easterling (Misty), Kevin Risher, Evan Risher (LaShala), Jasper Moss, III (Denesha), Jessica Moss and Brendonn Moss; honorary daughter LaKessa Floyd (Dante); sisters, Diane Moore (David) and Vivian Carroll (Douglas); sister-in-law Patricia Risher of Delaware. He leaves 15 grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, 2 aunts and 1 uncle who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. Evans was preceded in death by his father, Thomasl. Risher, Sr. his mother, Lue Ellen Risher; brothers, Larry D. Risher, Thomas L. Risher, Jr. and both sets of grandparents.
Though our hearts ache with sadness, we find solace in knowing that Evans left us with countless cherished memories. May his gentle soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to shine through those he loved and inspired.
