In Loving Memory of Evelyn
July 15, 1950 – July 29, 2026
With profound sorrow and deep love, we celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved mother, Evelyn Deloris Russell Greene, who peacefully transitioned from this life on July 29, 2026, at the age of 76.
Evelyn dedicated her life to service, excellence, and integrity. She faithfully served for more than 30 years with the United States Postal Service and also contributed her professional skills and expertise to Allstate Insurance.
A proud graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Fort Worth, Texas, Evelyn later pursued studies at Tarrant County College. Baptized in her youth, she remained steadfast in her Christian faith throughout her life. She served faithfully under Rev. Sanders at Pleasant Mount Gilead and later became a devoted member of Greater Sweethome Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Danny Kirk Sr.
Evelyn was a woman of exceptional strength, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. She lived with authenticity, grace, and quiet resilience. She found joy in sewing, floral arranging, reading, bowling, and tennis. She carried herself with integrity, fairness, and compassion, consistently treating others with dignity and respect. Her family could always depend on her wisdom, guidance, and steadfast love.
Throughout her life, Evelyn faced numerous challenges with courage and determination. She endured illness with grace and perseverance, remaining a woman of faith whose strength inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Above all, Evelyn deeply cherished her family. She created a home filled with love, laughter, encouragement, and enduring memories. She instilled in her children the values of kindness, perseverance, honesty, and compassion. These principles continue to live on through every life she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Addie Russell; her brothers, Floyd and Clifton Russell; her husband, Mr. Delmes Louis Greene Jr. (“Bobby”); and dear loved sisters Betty Curnell and JoAnn Russell.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Bethany Chester (Alfred), Bobbi Loraine Black (David), and Emily Greene (Theodas). To her daughters, her enduring wish was that they continue to love, support, and uplift one another. She was immensely proud of the women they have become, and her love will remain a guiding presence in their lives.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Ethan Damone Russell, Bayle Frances Russell, Alan Armon Greene, DeAundra DeShawn Burks Jr., and her beloved Laila Renee Burks, as well as her cherished great-granddaughter, London Russell
She is lovingly remembered by her surviving sisters, Letha Young and Crady Johnson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Evelyn’s legacy is one of faith, perseverance, dignity, and unconditional love. She will forever remain the heart of her family, and her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
