Evelyn Emma Osier

Evelyn Emma Majors Osier, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 100. Born on February 1, 1926, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Claude Frederick Majors, Sr. and Emma Schueller Majors, Evelyn lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, a love of learning, and a generous spirit.

When Evelyn was about seven years old, her family moved to Weatherford, Texas, where she grew up and later graduated from Weatherford High School. She continued her education at Texas Woman’s College and went on to earn her Master of Education from Texas Christian University in 1975. She remained a proud Horned Frog throughout her life.

Evelyn dedicated her career to education, teaching science and biology at Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth. She retired from Fort Worth ISD in May 1990 after touching the lives of countless students through her patience, knowledge, and commitment to helping others learn.

On September 15, 1950, Evelyn married Bobby Jack Osier. Together, Evelyn and Bob built a life centered around family and raised three sons, mostly in Fort Worth, with a brief time in Elkin, North Carolina, in the early 1980s. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her sons, Larry Joe Osier and Terry Lynn Osier; her parents; and her siblings, Claude and Betty.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Gary Bob Osier; her granddaughter, Haley Osier; her daughter-in-law, Kim Osier; her grandson, Tyler Osier; and her nieces, Gaye Richie and her husband Weldon, and Diane Susoev and her husband Mike. Her family will remember her for her strength, humor, independence, curiosity, and the love she carried for each of them.

Evelyn enjoyed reading, especially romance novels. She loved cats, the color purple, and the joy of travel. In retirement, she organized many trips for seniors in Tarrant County and served as president of her local AARP chapter. She had a lifelong desire to learn new things, whether trying to play the organ or figuring out how to use a computer or mobile phone.

Those who knew Evelyn knew she valued her independence. Even after her family made the difficult decision that she should stop driving in her eighties, she often reminded them that she believed she could still drive just fine even at age 100. That determination and spirit stayed with her throughout her life.

Evelyn often spoke about wanting to live to be 100 years old, and her family is grateful that she reached that remarkable milestone. Her long life was a gift to those who loved her, and her memory will continue to bring comfort, smiles, and gratitude.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the loving staff of Lynridge Assisted Living and Memory Care in Arlington, where Evelyn received excellent care for many years. Their compassion and kindness helped Evelyn remain happy and cared for, even as she lost mobility and independence. The family is deeply grateful for the love shown to her throughout her time there.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, July 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, Texas.
