Evelyn was born in Allen, TX on December 12, 1920 to Metz and Bertha Williams. Evelyn grew up on a farm in Allen along with her four brothers. Evelyn graduated from Allen High School in 1938. After moving to Ft. Worth, she worked as a secretary for the Reynolds Cattle Company for several years. In March of 1945, she met Ralph D. Thompson at a local skating rink. They were married in her parents' home in Allen on June 12, 1948. Evelyn worked for J.C. Penney and later worked as an administrative assistant at Harris Hospital downtown for more than 20 years. After her retirement, she worked as a volunteer docent for the Children's Museum of Science and History in Ft. Worth for several years. She was a longtime active member of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church. Evelyn enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, and reading.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Lyn Thompson, as well as several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 in the main chapel at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth with a committal service immediately following at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
