Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018 from 3pm to 5pm. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at 11:30am. The Funeral Service and Visitation will be held at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel, 6001 Rufe Snow Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76148. Interment to follow the Funeral Service at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Frances Arlene Kendall was born on November 22, 1923, the only child of William and Vivian Russell in Fort Stockton, Texas at her grandmother’s home. Arlene grew up in Fort Stockton and San Angelo, Texas. She was a graduate of Fort Stockton High School and attended nursing school for 2 years in El Paso. She met her future husband, Ray, in 1945 (he was stationed at Biggs Field, El Paso) while attending nursing school in El Paso, Texas. They married shortly before his enlistment was up on April 12, 1945 in Tulsa, OK. Arlene and Ray lived with their son, Michael in California, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Tulsa, OK and then for many years in Richland Hills, Texas.
When asked what was her best moment in life: “The birth of my son Michael Kendall!” She and Ray were married for 47 years when Ray died in 1992. She worked for Shannon Insurance about 10 years and then worked until her retirement at North Texas Steel of Fort Worth. She was a longtime member of Richland Hills Christian Church. She was a 50 year member and faithful supporter or the PEO Sisterhood and was there when her Chapter DY was founded. She enjoyed time with family and friends. She loved to travel and has been to Thailand, Canada, England, and Australia. Other favorite pastimes included bowling in a league, Needle point and letter writing.
Arlene is survived by her son, Michael (Susan) Kendall; four grandchildren: Michael (Jenna) Kendall, Jr., Jacob Profrock, Stephen Kendall and Jamie Kendall, and two great-granddaughters; Laurel and Kaylee. She also leaves behind: Sister-in-law, Eula Grantham, and Brother-in-law, Bill Shoemaker.
Arlene is predeceased by her parents, husband and her beloved dog, Oscar.
