Frances Ann Roberson Melton passed away peacefully on September 5, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ann, as she preferred to be called, was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 6, 1937, to Isaac and Lillian Roberson. She was their only child.
Ann married Mason Melton on April 6, 1955, upon his return from serving in Korea as a U.S. Marine. She remained in Fort Worth to graduate from Fort Worth (now Trimble) Technical High School in the Fall of 1955 (Class of 1956). She then joined her husband at the Marine Corps Base Twenty-Nine Palms in CA. Upon the completion of her husband’s enlistment, they returned to Fort Worth in July of 1956. They adopted their first son, Robert Bret, in 1964, and their second son, Matthew Scott, in 1968, who shares her birthday.
Ann was an avid bowler through the 1970s and 1980s. One year she won the Class C City title. She was also an active member of Altrusa International, volunteering at many club events throughout the metroplex. She loved traveling with her family, including through many states and on cruises. Once in her later years, she traveled to London, England with her husband and family friend.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Mason; son Robert Bret and his wife, Stephanie Lynn; son Matthew Scott; grandchildren Justin Bret and Carissa Diane, all of Fort Worth. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Ann’s name to the Alzheimer's Association.
