She was a sweetheart baby, born 2/14/1928 in Hill County, Texas to the parents of Alvy and Mary Hawkins. She was married in 1946 to William Glenn Burton for 42 years of love and laughter raising their family of 3 children in Fort Worth, Texas.
Graduating from Itasca High School in 1945. Her life’s work was serving God and her family. A homemaker and mother, she actively volunteered at her children’s schools. With a servant's heart, she was a Sunday school teacher for 47 years at South Fort Worth Baptist Church. During that time she served as Director of Sunday School for 20 plus years. She also, volunteered on numerous committees. In her later years, she was member of Willow Creek Baptist. She enjoyed playing 42 and other games with her friends and family. She enjoyed gardening and meeting with the St. Luke Walkers. Above all, she was a prayer warrior for all. Her infectious laugh and sense of humor will be greatly missed. With all humility she would say, God had given her the most rewarding life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn Burton. Her parents, Alvy and Mary Hawkins. Her siblings, Lester Hawkins, Beatrice Moore and Mae Belle Hawkins.
She is survived by her children, Gerald Burton and wife Marianne; Gary Burton and wife Cindy; Jan Stafford and husband Scott; Grandchildren, Geri and Mark McKenzie, Renee and Bart Scarbrough, Diana and Dennis Pearcy, Becky and David Poggensee, Sandi and Rich Williams, Ashley Stafford, and Josh Stafford. Great grandchildren: Harper McKenzie, Desirae and Nolan Bradley, Dustin and Devin Pearcy, Chandler and Caden Poggensee and Mia and Asher Williams, Rashell and Nick Martino, and Shawn Wallace. Great Great Grandchildren: Riley and Emerson Martino.
