George Richard “Dick” Powers passed away at his home in Fort Worth Texas on December 19, 2023, at the age of 88. Dick was born in Urbana, Illinois on March 27, 1935. Dick graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in mechanical engineering. He then attended law school at George Washington University, where he obtained his JD.
Dick married Charlie Jo Jackson on February 17, 1962. He had a 36-year career with the General Electric Company as a patent lawyer and eventually the chief trademark counsel for the company. After retiring in 1995, he and Charlie Jo moved to Texas, where they led many lively years filled with international travel and time with family.
Dick is survived by his wife, Charlie Jo Powers, his two sons, Thomas Andrew Powers of Arlington VA and James Daniel Powers of Santa Monica CA, and his grandson, Emmett Isaiah Powers of Philadelphia PA.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, December 26, at Trinity Terrace, 1600 Texas St., Fort Worth TX 76102.
