I was proud to call Shirley my friend for many years, as we first met at the telephone company. I loved her dearly. In recent years, she and I made several trips to Calvert, Texas, to visit our friend, Joy Shores. Another thing that drew us closer was our love of our Maltese doggies.... oh, how Shirley loved her baby! My heart is broken, and I will always cherish the memories of her. All my sympathy to her family.

I met Jerry Sloan when I was but a 17-year-old high school graduate. I knew Greg and Shannon but had not met their parents. Jerry and Shannon were two of the kindest, most loving, and caring people I believe that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Jerry and Shannon encouraged me when I decided to go on to school to become a preacher, Jerry said that if I ever needed anything that they would be there for us. I knew that. I trusted that statement because I knew it was from their heart. I loved this man as a brother and held him close as a friend. I was so thankful to be able to reconnect via FB over the last several years. May God bless this family and give them a spirit of comfort and peace. Be blessed, my friends. I can't wait for the big reunion.

I will always remember Shirley as being a genuinely nice person. She truly wanted the best for everybody and would help them get it. She was someone everyone liked and respected. So very sad for this worlds loss of Shirley but know that Heaven is rejoicing at her presence.

When I moved to Texas at age 18 I didn't know very many people. Through hanging out with my wonderful aunt Sandi, I was blessed to get to know Shirley. She was so kind, loving, and a bit spunky. I recall her telling me how she was responsible for my uncle Bob and Sandi meeting from when she injured her hand. I'm so thankful she made that introduction!
