

Preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Ortiz & Agustina Rodriguez Ortiz. Along with his nine brothers & sisters.
Gilbert was a loving, kindhearted man with a zest for life & willing to help those in need, give the shirt off his back & give his last penny away to anyone in great need. He was a very hard-working man that provided for his family & others that were in need day or night.
He was a long-time bingo caller for St. Mary’s Catholic Church for over fifteen years, also had been a long-time member of the church & board member as well and helped to set up a Knights of Columbus chapter within the church.
Gilbert was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan from way way back. Win or lose that was his team. In the early years he has the pleasure of doing the tile work for a few of the players as well as for the head coach.
He is survived by eight children: Adrienne Tushka (Gary), Vienna Escobar (john), Martin Chazarreta (Maria), Daniel Ortiz, Lasinia Ortiz-Smith (Tommy), Robert Ortiz, Sonya Rangel (Gilbert), Joseph Bolf (Kelly). Along with sixteen grandchildren & fifteen great grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews & sister, Lupe Ortiz Diaz.
