Gloria Jean was called home to her Heavenly Father, on July 3, 2022. She was born in Sioux City, Iowa on April 3, 1945 and graduated from Pleasanton High School, Pleasanton, Kansas in 1964. She was the middle child of George and Naomi (Anderson) Johnson. Gloria attended Cosmetology School in Kansas City, Missouri. She retired from Allied Signal, Kansas City, Missouri after 21 years. In retirement, Gloria worked for Hallmark Cards, Walmart, Sears, Wendy’s and Stein Mart. She and her beloved husband, Charles, married in Kansas City, Missouri on April 13, 1977 and have lived in Fort Worth, Texas for over 30 years.
Gloria Jean was a devout Christian who introduced herself with a hug and didn’t know a stranger. She made friends everywhere she went and her favorite topic was sharing her faith. Her love of God was evident in everything she said and did. She put others first and was always there for those who needed her. She was the essence of a Servant Leader. She was a member of White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Gloria’s other passion was cooking and baking. She
was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking desserts for her family and friends, especially her
grandkids. She also attended many of her kids and grandkids musical and sporting activities. She and her husband took many trips around the country and had interesting stories to tell about places and people they met along the way. She always told her kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews how proud she was of them and always prayed for blessings over their lives. And when family and friends would gather, she always wanted photos taken and sent to her. You might say that she loved God, family, photos, the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas City Chiefs in that order.
Gloria Jean leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Charles Estill, three sons, Allen, Anthony and Baron Fields, sister, Naomi Clounch and brother, George Johnson, daughter-in-laws, Mary and Monica, and nine grandchildren, Courtland, Allene, Maren, Noah, Miranda, Brandon, Marcus, Bryson, and Xavier Fields. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gloria was proceeded in death by her parents George and Naomi Johnson.
The Celebration of Life will be held on July 25, 2022 at 10:00 am at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church 185 S White Chapel Blvd, Southlake, TX 79092, Rev. Kyle Roberson officiating.
