Harold was born on January 20th, 1930 in Swenson, Texas to Theresa Dell Sykes and Thomas Lacy Christian. He left grade school at a young age and stepped up to provide for his family by sharecropping, shining shoes, and repairing watches. He served in the US Army, 1st Calvary, from 1953 -1955, where he was stationed in Hokkaido, Japan. After meeting the love of his life, he married Richadene “Richie” McNeely on February 24th, 1955, in Oklahoma City. Together over 61 years, they raised five children: Belva, Thomas, Tim, Russell, and Colin.
Harold operated Chris’ barber shop and a beauty salon with his wife, Richie, for over 42 years. Harold loved putting things back together, he spent many hours working on car engines, lawnmowers, and other gadgets. He will be remembered for his wisdom and patience, his gentle yet hardworking hands, and his faith in Christ.
Attending Rolling Hills and Hallmark Church for over 53 years, Harold fully embraced his family of believers and dedicated much time and effort to connecting with the local body.
He selflessly cared for his wife Richie, during her 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Harold was preceded in death by his father and mother; wife Richie; and his seven brothers and sisters.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Belva (Karl); sons, Thomas (Pam), Tim (Ronda), Russell, Colin (Buffy); 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
The honorary pallbearers are Jason Zukerman, Cameron, Caden, Keaton, Aidan, and Harold (Tate) Christian.
