Harvey B. Woods, III was born October 5, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas to proud parents, Ruth Naomi and Harvey B. Woods. Jr. He attended Riverside Elementary School and graduated from I.M. Terrell Jr. Senior High School in 196. He then attended Huston Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. Harvey accepted the Lord at an early age and was a long time member of Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as an Acolyte and was a member of the Y.P.D. and Youth Choir.
He later married his childhood sweetheart, Retta Carter. There were no children born to this union. Harvey and Retta later moved to Houston, Texas, where he was employed with Brown and Root Construction Company. Harvey loved family and was considered very "laid back" and easy going. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed watching good movies, boxing, and playing his alto saxophone, which he played in the I.M. Terrell High School Marching Band.
Harvey shred a loving and enduring relationship with his sister, Abbie Sue, who was his primary caregiver for over a decade. He leaves his family and friends richly blessed with fond memories.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Naomi Brooks Woods and Harvey Blackshear Woods, Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his beloved sister, Abbie Sue Woods-Stallworth; nephews, Jay Ali Stallworth (Calaya) and Aaron Harvey Stallworth (Danielle); four great nieces, Jordan, Jaron, Harper and Marley Stallworth; four immediate cousins, Sylvester Brooks, Virginia Brooks-Cummings, Carolyn Brooks-Hawkins and Daphne Brooks-Fedke; a God-sister, Audrey Jamison; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
