Heather Leann McMenamy, 27, was born on November 11, 1988 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born to Russell and Teresa McMenamy and was welcomed home by her big sister, Ashley. Heather courageously battled acute lymphoblastic leukemia for 19 months. On October 24, 2016 she found peace and joined our Lord and Savior.
Heather graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2012.
Although her life was too short, Heather made an impact on many lives through her love of soccer, volleyball and fitness. She was proud to compete in fitness competitions and hoped to inspire others to meet their goals as a personal trainer one day. Heather made a friend of everyone she met and always had a smile on her face. Even through her fight with cancer she remained cheerful and optimistic. Above all, her faith in God stayed strong and Heaven has now gained a beautiful angel.
Heather was survived by her parents, Russell and Teresa McMenamy, her sister and brother-in-law, Ashley Wilkins and Robert Wilkins, her niece, Nora Wilkins, her grandparents Richard and Patricia Scarbrough and Owen and Jerry McMenamy, 4 aunts, 4 uncles, 10 cousins, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her cousin Chase Long.
If you would like to make a donation in memory of Heather please visit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org), or consider a personal donation of blood, platelets, or bone marrow (www.bethematch.org), to help others still fighting blood cancers.
