Helen graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth. She continued her education at Lindenwood University in Missouri before transferring to Texas Christian University, where she earned her bachelor's degree. She then attended the University of North Texas, where she obtained her master's degree. Following her education, Helen worked as a speech pathologist for the Fort Worth Independent School District.
Helen married Jim Orr, and they shared 39 years before his passing. She later married Daniel Nevot, with whom she spent 15 years before his passing as well.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Bohn and Helen K. Bohn, her brother, Joe A. Bohn, and her sister, Elizabeth Carlstrom.
Helen is survived by Mark Kissling, Thor Carlstrom, Nils Carlstrom, Liisa Schmidt, Stina Pillion, along with 9 grandnieces and grandnephews, and 7 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
