Henry Fred Wood passed away from complications of pneumonia Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016. Service: pending. Henry Fred "Woody" Wood was born June 9, 1924, to Homer and Mabel Wood in Alvarado. He was the youngest of five children. He was a combat veteran in the U.S. Army, serving during the Pacific Theater from 1942-1945. Henry was a pioneer in the manufacturing representative agency business. He was president of Henry F. Wood & Associates, Southwest Sales & Cartage, B&W Sales and Marketing. Henry was active in the plumbing wholesale and retail home center trades for over 50 years. In the 1960s and 1970s, he was a warehouse and apartment developer in Fort Worth and Dallas. He was an avid follower of the Dallas Cowboys for over 50 years. Until his 80s, he was a very active and lived a full life of travel and enjoyed taking his many customers to his home in La Costa, Calif., and on vacations to Acapulco, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Paul Wood, Frank Wood, Inez Anderson and Lois Welsh. Survivors: Daughter, Cheryl Mercer and husband, Tom; son, Bruce Wood and wife, Tandy; grandchildren, Scott Schroeder, Jill Schroeder, Alex Mercer, Whitney Wood, Olivia Wood and Frank Wood; five great-grandchildren; extended family; and friends.
