

BURLESON -- Hershel Allen Nesmith, 86, passed away comfortably in his home, and went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday evening, July 17, 2016. Funeral: Mr. Nesmith will be honored at 10 a.m. Thursday at Boulevard Baptist Church in Burleson with Dr. Terry Williams and Bro. Paul Cooper officiating. Visitation: 9 a.m. Thursday. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boulevard Baptist Church, c/o Mission Ministries, 315 Burleson Blvd., Burleson, Texas 76028. Hershel was born April 3, 1930, in Marriana, Fla., to Oscar V. and Melissa Jackson Nesmith, and was one of 12 children. Mr. Nesmith enlisted into the Air Force at the age of 17. While stationed at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, he met the love of his life, JoAnn (Jody) and was married for 63 years before her passing on Nov. 14, 2014. Hershel spent his years loving life, his family, friends, and God. He retired from construction work, but remained an avid woodworker, crafting beautiful furniture, clocks, and other fine pieces. But above all his hobbies, Hershel loved music, along with his extensive guitar collection. Mr. Nesmith was also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters. Survivors: Daughters, Pamela Hogan and husband, John, of Burleson and Janet Gilbert of Arlington; brothers-in-law, Pete Latimer and wife, Shelly, of Burleson, and Coy Latimer and wife, Joy, also of Burleson; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
