We bid farewell to our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Horst Wedner, who departed from this world on July 6, at the age of 92. Charming, audacious and a pillar of strength, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. To commemorate his remarkable life and the memories we cherish, a service will be held at Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel on July 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and will be missed.
The son of Hilda and Kurt Kaufman Wedner, Horst was born in Karlsruhe, Germany on May 29, 1932. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 and was employed as a tool and die maker at the Eldorado Mine in Port Radium, Northwest Territories, Canada. From there, he moved to Garden Grove, California and became a U.S. citizen in 1967. In 1991, he relocated to Fort Worth, Texas where he retired.
Horst was an optimistic and inspiring person who loved life and was a survivor. He spoke to everyone he came in contact with and enjoyed every conversation. He loved auto racing, water skiing, racquetball, horseback riding and photography. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family.
Horst was a great man, a strong man, a defined man. The leader of the family, his presence was felt and respected. Above all, he was always brave and courageous. He lived his life the same way he left it, with purpose, dignity and caring for those around him. He will not be forgotten.
Horst is survived by his wife of 33 years, Teresa; his sons, Robert Wedner and wife, Tina (Huntington Beach, California) and Mathew Stone and wife, Lauren (Azle, Texas); daughters, Karen Buhrow and husband, Dave (Las Vegas, Nevada), Barbara Mann and husband, Chris (Livingston, Tennessee), and Jennifer Wedner (Watauga, Texas); 10 grandchildren, Stacy, Stephen, Leila, Bailee, Remington, Brooke, John, Steven, Matalyn and Tristen; 12 great-grandchildren; and his loving dogs and good friends.
In lieu of flowers, financial contributions in memory of Horst W. Wedner can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Watauga Animal Shelter.
