

Howard Ray Cox was born February 7, 1933 to Howard Clayton Cox and Jewell Pratt Cox in Keller, Texas. He passed away peacefully at his Fort Worth home on March 23, 2025. Ray was preceded in death by his dear wife, Ottilie E. Cox of Hanau, Germany, his parents, and his sister, Paula D. Lunn.
After high school, he enlisted in the US Army, eventually attaining the rank of First Sargent and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal during the Viet Nam War. Ray retired from the US Army in 1970 after 20 years of active service to his country. He obtained his Associates Degree from Tarrant County College in 1974. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a manager for Tandy Corporation, retiring from his second career in 1995.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Brigitte Huttner-Cox of Villeneuve d'ascq, France, his granddaughter, Catherine Huttner of Prunelli di Fium Orbu, Corsica and his “like a daughter”, Barbara Zebrowski of Edgecliff Village, Texas. He remained active in American
Legion Post 626 until his death. In addition to family, he leaves behind a large number of friends and loved ones throughout the US and Germany and he will be painfully missed.
