

FORT WORTH -- Jack Bristow, 87, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2016. Service: 10 a.m. Friday at Arborlawn United Methodist Church, 5001 Briarhaven Road, Fort Worth. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Memorials: Meals on Wheels, in lieu of flowers. Jack was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Franklin, Texas to Grover Cleveland Bristow and Oma Hogan Bristow. As their only son, he was a big part of his sisters' lives on the farm in Robertson County. Jack met Rosalie Francis in China Lake, Calif., during his service to the U.S. Navy. They married in the Navy chapel on the base in China Lake on May 22, 1948. After their marriage, Jack and Rosie moved to College Station. Jack continued pursuing his business degree while working part time for the Texas A&M school newspaper, The Battalion. In May 1952, Jack received his business degree from Texas A&M and took a job with Texas Electric Service Co. in Fort Worth. In 1962, Jack changed careers and began his new career and business as a State Farm agent. He continued to build and prosper with his agency for 28 years. He proudly served the Community in his role as a business leader with a high degree of ethics and honesty. These traits helped him throughout his life gain the respect of his policyholders, fellow agents and management. After retiring in 1990, Jack and Rosie "hit the road," so to speak, with their RV and traveled all throughout the United States and Canada. Jack was a very active athlete in high school playing football and tennis for the school while also working on the family farm. He continued playing tennis in a senior league in Fort Worth until he was 80. Jack was always active in the various United Methodist churches of which he was a member. He drove for Meals on Wheels serving people in Fort Worth for many years. Jack was a very devoted husband and father, always supporting the family with responsibility in his attention to finances and attendance in the various sporting events of his sons. He and Rosie were married for 62 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie. Survivors: Sons, Mike Bristow of Cypress, Jerry Bristow and wife, Nancy, of Fort Worth and Bruce Bristow of San Antonio; grandchildren, Trent, Melanie, Kelly, Marian, Kyle and Clayton; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Colin, Colton and Miles; sisters, Louise Reid of Temple and Patsy Price and husband, Ben Price, of College Station.
