Jackie was born in Fort Worth, Texas on September 10, 1929. She was a proud 1946 graduate of Paschal High School. It was at Paschal that she met the love of her life, Jim Harris and they were married on October 25, 1946. They were married for 69 years until Jim’s death in 2015.
Jim and Jackie had five sons. Jackie was the most amazing mother raising their five boys. Her boys would be forever impacted by her selfless love and constant encouragement. During those years, she launched a new ministry at her church, Westcliff Methodist, for special needs children. She also served as the 1963 chairperson for the March of Dimes and would later go on to teach at the Child Study Center and Bluebonnet Elementary in the Special Needs classroom. She was a great supporter of the Moslah Shrine, and her husband Jim as he served as Potentate in 1987, where they helped raise money for Shriners Children’s hospitals for many years.
Jackie loved bowling, fishing, her Texas Rangers, painting, playing games, movies, reading biographies and her friends in her sewing club that met for over 60 years. But one of the greatest loves of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren who gave her a new name, “Granny.” She wore that name proudly!
Jackie spent the last 10 years of her life in Sulphur Springs, Texas where she was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and Grace Methodist Church. She loved her New Messengers Sunday School class, and they loved her.
During her time in Sulphur Springs, Jackie lived at the Wesley House and Hopkins Court Assisted living facilities and continued to impact lives in those communities.
Jackie is survived by her sons Larry Harris and wife, Nancy of Wylie, Texas, David Harris and wife, Debbie of Weatherford, Texas, Jeff Harris and wife, Talisa of Sulphur Springs, Texas; Grandchildren Ryan Harris, Angela Bassett, James Harris, William Harris, Hutton Harris and Chandler Harris; Great Grandchildren, Hudson Harris, Harper Harris, Elizabeth Bassett, Elaine Bassett, Olivia Bassett, Ethyn Harris, Tristan La Beau Jr., Olivia La Beau, Davis Harris, Madelyn Harris, Hayes Harris, Henry Harris, Ruby Harris, Maely Harris, and Abel Harris.
