

Kuykendall, James Faires Jr. of Arlington, Texas died April 29,2016. He is survived by his daughter, Bette Cox, three grandchildren, Aaron, Abby and Brad, and two great-grandchildren, McKenzie, and Jacob. He was born on December 27, 1915 in Lake Dallas Texas. He was the oldest of three children. Faires, as he was always known, celebrated his 100 birthday at a large party given by his daughter and loving neighbors in December 2015. Faires was a WWII veteran who flew in many bombing raids over Germany and survived a plane crash in France. AS the war was winding down, he was deployed to Liberia, Africa to take aerial photographs of that country for making maps. He returned home to his first wife, Jean who died in 1980. He went back to a job that he loved with the Ft. Worth Star Telegram and he married his second wife, Jane who died in 2003. The Star Telegram held a retirement party in 1983 for Faires, who was Circulation Manager and had worked for them for over 50 years. Community service was always a large part of Faires' life. He was a long serving member of the West Side Kiwanis Club of Ft. Worth and he served as a Board member, along with other positions over the years, for the First Methodist Church in Ft. Worth. He was named "The Mayor of Graham Square" by acclimation from his friends in the neighborhood for his many contributions to them. Faires was very loved and respected by his family, friends, and neighbors and he will be greatly missed.
