

Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel with a graveside service to follow in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Immediately following interment, the family requests friends to join them at the funeral home to share your memories of Jim.
James was born Dec. 27, 1910, to Margaret and James Lovett in Birmingham, Ala. His school was Auburn University. Before World War II he was employed by U.S. Steel and the Federal Reserve Bank. He entered the U. S. Army in 1942, serving in the 542nd Engineer Brigade in the Pacific and ending his active service in Japan in 1946 when he retired with the rank of major.
After the war he was employed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers followed by a short time at Freese and Nichols. He was a member of Arlington Presbyterian Church for many years. Some of his favorite activities were traveling, carpentry, gardening, reading, attending musical events and taking part in community activities.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the hospice workers who helped to ease Jim's final days.
He was preceded in death by most immediate family members and many relatives.
Survivors: Polly, wife of 63 years; daughter, Lynn Lovett; cousins, Mary Margaret Gross, Patty Lovett, Dan Lovett Jr.; nieces; and nephews.
