Jim is survived by his beloved wife Suzan Munkittrick, his four children, Kristin Munkittrick, Ryan Munkittrick (Lindsey), James Munkittrick (Lorena), and Cara Garcia, nine grandchildren, and caretakers who became family, Andrea Ramos and Renee Pelzel, his pups, and many, many friends.
Jim was born in La Plata, Maryland to Robert and Anne Munkittrick. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Judy, and his brother Robert.
Jim graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and from 1972 to 1975 he proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force Honor Guard, where he stood watch at the funerals of former Presidents Truman and Johnson.
Jim’s career gave his family the opportunity to live in many places across the United States but he was happiest living in Texas. He loved Texas summers and would joke he was still thawing out from his days up North. He enjoyed spending time in Galveston and cruising through the Caribbean with his beautiful bride. He was an avid golfer and a fan of NASCAR, his Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and UT Longhorns.
Jim was brilliant and funny and loved his family and friends with his whole entire heart. He was a rescuer, a cheerleader, and a rock. He will be missed forever.
A funeral mass will be held on October 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 2016 Willis Lane, Keller, Texas 76248. Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in Jim’s honor.
