James Wayne Spence

He was born in Kennett, Missouri, on December 17, 1948.

James attended school in Missouri and Florida, and later earned his GED. He also earned a professional certification from Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, Texas.

He married Brenda Hope Carroll on February 2, 1968, in Waco.

James worked for W.M. Cameron in Waco for 20 years. He retired from CSC ServiceWorks in Dallas, Texas, after 29 years of dedicated service. After retiring, James enjoyed driving a school bus for Mansfield ISD.

He and Brenda faithfully served in the Church of the Nazarene in Waco and Fort Worth, and currently at Grace Church in Burleson for a total of 53 years.

James had a passion for woodworking, camping, target practice, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Spence, two sisters, a brother, and a grandson.

James was survived in death by his wife, Brenda Hope Spence; daughter, Marsha Mavis Spence (Judy); and sons, James Wayne Spence, Jr. (Julie) and Brian Scott Spence (Jennifer); grandchildren, Amber (Clinton), Megan (Taylor), Branden (Elizabeth), Connor, Ethan, and Olivia; great grandchildren, Joy, Ellie, Addison, and Bryce; brother, Jackie Lowe; sister, Brenda Hadon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Grace Church, 880 West County Road 714, Burleson, Texas, 76028. The service will also be livestreamed at gracechurchburleson.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
