I am heartbroken to hear of the death of James. I loved him and his wife Opal. All of my childhood memories revolve around the Spencer family. Opal and James were my idea of the perfect parents, Ward and June Clever had nothing on them. Unfortunately after the Spencer family moved from Houston to Amarillo we didn't have the close relationship of my childhood but the love and admiration continued. When my own father died suddenly in 1981 the Spencer family made the long drive from Amarillo to Houston to share in our grief. We had to leave Houston immediately following the funeral service heading to Louisiana for the burial service. The Spencers had to turn around and head home so we only got to see them for a few minutes in the receiving line. The love and appreciation I felt seeing them there for just those few minutes has not diminished in all these years. A man recently showed me a coin and said your life is like this coin. You can spend this coin on anything you want, any way you want to, but you can only spend it once, just like your life. Chose to spend it wisely. James and Opal did. They were good Christians, good parents, good citizens and good friends. They will be missed by all that knew them. I love you James and Opal thank you for the love and good times you shared with me.

James was so kind to us. Even telling us he was going to give his son my sons name to go to movies in Hollywood. He thought my son was that good. He believed in him as much as we do. We loved him at the Elvis shows he will be missed deeply. We are praying for your family during this great big loss. Much Love, Mike, Karen and Moses Snow (Elvis ETA family)
