A Graveside Service will be held at DFW National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas, 75211 on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 11:30 am.
Janie, as everyone knew her, was born on February 4, 1945 to Ruth and JW Thompson. She grew up in Pampa, TX and later attended TCU, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree. From there, she taught History at Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth, the same school her 3 children would later attend.
While in Ft. Worth, she met and married her husband of 55 years, Mark A Randall. They had three children together whom they raised in Ft. Worth. Janie devoted much of her time to making sure her children had the best of everything. This was most apparent in education, as she served on the PTA for all her children’s schools as well as helping them study. She expected the best from her children, but also did everything she could to help them be their best.
With her parents also in Ft. Worth, Janie was able to spend time with them. She loved her parents and loved animals. When her focus shifted from family, she loved to read and watch football. After her children grew up, she spent time volunteering at Handley United Methodist Church.
Janie is survived by her husband Mark, her three children, Allen, Kristen, and Stacy; her 5 grandchildren, Daniel, Andy, Parker, Jessie, and Lauren; and her brother Jack.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Highway Hounds Rescue & Transport (https://highwayhoundstx.org/donate-1).
