

Janet was born on August 23rd, 1952 to Harold and Myra Coffey in Cherokee County, Alabama. After graduating from Cherokee County High School in 1970, she married Bernie Eppler in 1971 and settled in North Texas. She went on to study Education at Texas Wesleyan University, obtaining a Bachelor’s, and later, a Master’s degree.
After graduation, she began a career in elementary education that would last over 30 years, touching the lives of thousands of students in the Fort Worth, Everman, and Crowley School districts. She and Bernie raised their three children, Bradley, Melanie, and Andrew. She healed bumps and scrapes, defused arguments between her children, and carried them to band, sports, and doctor’s appointments. She celebrated in her children’s successes and mentored them through their struggles as children, adults, and as parents themselves.
After retiring in 2013, Janet created a backyard oasis that would rival any botanic gardens and she took on a new title, Grammy. Her time with her grandchildren was spent with arts and crafts, teaching them how to swim, reading, and healing bumps and scrapes.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Myra Coffey.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bernie Eppler; son, Bradley Eppler and wife, Kelly; daughter, Melanie Eppler; son, Andrew Eppler and wife, Elizabeth; brother, Thomas Coffey and wife, Jan; and grandchildren, Gentry, John, Greyer, and Juliette.
