

Janet Irene Swift Knowles, age 93, of Fort Worth, Texas, was called home to be with Jesus on May 4, 2026. She was born on May 19, 1932, in Cuba, New York, to Thomas Aaron Swift and Esther Carpenter Swift.
Janet graduated from Northside High School in 1950. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, Thomas Elmer Knowles Jr., and they were married on December 21, 1951. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion to one another.
A faithful member of Hallmark Baptist Church for over 60 years, Janet raised her children in a home grounded in her deep love for the Lord. She made it her mission to ensure her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren knew just how much they were loved—and how much Jesus loved them too.
Janet will be remembered for her warm, unforgettable hugs, her candid “tell-it-like-it-is” spirit, her steadfast strength and her beautiful blue eyes. She devoted many years to lovingly caring for her husband, exemplifying a quiet, enduring faithfulness that defined her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Thomas Elmer Knowles Jr.; her son, Thomas E. Knowles III; her sister Mariam Swift Necessary and husband Pete; and her sister Jen Swift Castille and husband Frank.
She is survived by her children: Martha Harper and husband Benny; daughter-in-law Carol Knowles; Glenda Knowles; Annabeth Robertson and husband Tommy; and Curtis Knowles and wife Rexann. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of joy in her life.
A viewing will be held at Hallmark Baptist Church in Fort Worth on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Mike Knowles, Jeff Knowles, Travis Knowles, Casey Baker, Cal Knowles, and Mark Jones, with honorary pallbearers Weston Baker and Cade Knowles. Interment will take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grandview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in appreciation for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Janet, especially by Donna Anderson and Joann Tucker. The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Stephanie Pickens from Wings Over Texas Hospice for her compassionate care and support.
