Jarrell Calvin Reeves, 79, passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2020, in Burleson, Texas. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jarrell was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 11, 1940. He grew up in west Fort Worth and attended Arlington Heights High School. After high school, he attended Arlington State College where he met his wife of 57 years, Maricia. During this time, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves in which he served honorably for six years. Jarrell transferred to Texas Christian University and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and remained a faithful Horned Frog fan who loved to tailgate with his friends.
After a 15-year corporate career, he ventured into small business ownership with his brother-in-law, Don Yeager. Together, they owned and operated multiple auto parts stores for 25 years. After retiring from the auto parts business, Jarrell spent most days being “Pop” to his grandsons. He spent many days taking them to music class, the museum, and school. He also enjoyed more than the occasional round of golf.
Jarrell spent many years volunteering as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed camping, hiking, and spent at least ten summers leading Scouts on backpacking expeditions at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
He loved his family and found great joy in watching, holding, and playing with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Jarrell loved to travel with his family and enjoyed adventures to Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and many National Parks.
