Jennie was reared by her grandparents in a big two story home on a farm in a Norwegian community near Clifton, TX. She could not speak much English when she started school and retained some of her native tongue. Every Christmas dinner she would say a Norwegian Table Prayer for the family.
Jennie was a devoted wife and mother. She was an advocate of her children in all ways, volunteering in many aspects, inclusive of PTA and all activities and involvements.
Game hunting and fishing were always integral family activities. These trips included such places as the Minnesota Lakes, Alaska, Canada, Bahamas, and other well-known sites.
Skeet shooting was a shared passion in the Skidmore household. She was even a competitor in Puerto Rico.
Jennie was a benevolent giver of her time in volunteerism. For many years she was president of the Muscular Dystrophy Organization and helped organize the Tarrant County Chapter. She was president of Harris Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered there for over Twenty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sam Skidmore, and daughter JoAnn Moody.
Jennie is survived by her daughter Veronica Swope and Husband Tom; son Sam Skidmore, Jr and wife Donna; heartfelt son Randy Toomer and wife Fran; Brothers, J. M. Finstad, Douglas Finstad and wife Sharon, Gene Finstad and wife Cathy.
Grandchildren: Tom Swope III and wife Margaret; Grant Swope and wife Canice; Matt Swope and wife Kerri; and her extended Alaska Family.
She leaves behind a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
