

Jerald “Jerry” Roger Lutgen was born on November 2, 1943 in Fort Meyers, Florida to Oliver and Jean Lutgen. Service: 10 am Wednesday at Granbury Baptist Church, 1200 Weatherford Hwy Granbury, TX 76048. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 pm on Tuesday at Granbury Baptist Church. Interment will be in Abilene. There will be a memorial service at 4 pm Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church, 871 Woodlawn Abilene, Texas 79603. Memorials: The family asks all flowers be delivered to the Granbury Baptist Church and memorial contributions can be made to Granbury Baptist Church Building Fund. Jerry spent his career working for IBM for over 32 years. He is one of the technicians who can say he witnessed technology progress from the first electric typewriter to the 3D printing of today. After retirement he spent a lot of time in the great outdoors. Jerry was 62 years old when he hiked the Appalachian Trail, a total of 2165 miles. He also spent time hiking around Mt. Rainier. He loved being outside so much he bought himself a recumbent bike and a normal ride for him averaged around 30 miles at a time. Jerry put his hands to good use with remodeling projects around the home he shared with his family. He was also an avid bow hunter. He owned and operated Big Country Archery and shared his love for archery with his customers. Jerry and his family were longtime members of Trinity Baptist Church of Abilene where he served as a Trustee and Granbury Baptist Church as an Usher, Safety Team Member and Greeter. He has joined in Heaven his parents and sister, Karen Henderson. Jerry Leaves behind his legacy and memory with his wife of 49 years, Norma; son, Michael Shawn Lutgen and wife Chrissy; grandchildren Parker and Preston Lutgen; brother, Mike Lutgen and wife Deb; extended family and dear friends.
