

Jimmy Ray Coleman, Sr.
In the beauty of spring, May 10, 1943, the Late Ambrose and Ernestine Coleman were blessed with their First Son.
They named him Jimmy Ray. Jimmy was large in size and hungry. He joined his sister, Dorothy.
Being large in statue became an asset as an athlete leading him to excel in sports.
At I.M. Terrell High School, 1958 – 1962, he gained notoriety that is today yet displayed in the School Showcase .
His records still exist. Football 1959-1964, All District End, 61-62, Lineman of the Week, 61-61, Track, 58-62, Basketball, 59-60. When he HIT YOU, You didn’t get up!!! “BIG JIM”.
Jimmy won an Athletic Scholarship to Tennessee State. After receiving an injury, he returned home.
He met the “Love of His Life”, Vernice, and they were happily Married for 53 Years.
He was a loving father to Jimmy Jr., Shabra, (Micheal), Tony* (Esther) and Ronald*. Grandfather (POPPY) to Micaela, Cranston, Tony Jr. and Trevor.
A loving brother to Odell Coleman, (Marilyn), Charles Coleman, Louise Carter (Michael), and has several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and Sister-In-Love, Sheryl Smith.
Jimmy was loving, soft spoken, giving and sharing. He loved entertaining and beauty.
Tuesdays was a special morning, it was Male Ministry Fellowship Breakfast time.
Jimmy was a Member of The Fort Worth Charmers and the Ambassadors of Fort Worth.
He loved Serving as a Doorkeeper and Trustee in his Church, Morning Chapel CME Church.
He was employed at Bell Helicopter and retired from Lockheed Martin after 43 Years of Meritorious Service. He had many friends. Jimmy is remembered and leaves a mark on the heart of many who knew him.
He was known for loving his family. Precious Memories will live on of this Gentle Giant.
*Deceased. Lives in our Hearts. Gone but never forgotten. They are waiting for him to arrive.
A visitation for Jimmy will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors, 4000 Miller Avenue, Fort Worth, TX. A wake will occur Friday, October 25, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Morning Chapel CME Church, 903 E. 3rd Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102. A celebration of his life & legacy will occur Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Morning Chapel CME Church, 903 E. 3rd Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102. A burial will occur Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 8301 Mansfield Hwy, Arlington, TX 76001.
