Jo was born in Mexia, TX on August 1, 1948 to Alma Ruth DeGuire and Odell Hornsby. She entered into Jesus' presence on June 29, 2026 after a tough 3 year fight with cancer. She spent her elementary years growing up in the Poly area of Fort Worth, until the family moved to the east side, where she attended Handley Jr. High and Eastern Hills High School, Class of 1966.
In 1970, she married Richard Conan Cantwell, and then had two children, Cindy and Michael. After being a full time stay at home mom for many years, Jo began work at her friend's business, Nash Sports in Fort Worth until her retirement at age 64.
Jo enjoyed being at the beach or on the lake at Possum Kingdom listening to country music, her friends, her dogs, and her grandchildren most of all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; her brother, Ken Hornsby; and her son, Michael Odell Cantwell.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Cantwell Pettigrew and husband, Charley; and grandchildren, Audrey Claire, Brandt Michael, and Ava Cate Pettigrew.
