Joanna King

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joanna Ferguson King, who left us on July 3, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Born on July 10, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, Joanna was the daughter of Earl Lawrence and Betty Jo Ferguson. Joanna graduated from C.F. Brewer High School in 1967. Following graduation, she worked in public service for the United States Postal Service, worked as a police dispatcher for the City of White Settlement, and retired from the City of Benbrook as the City Secretary with 49 years of service. Joanna enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri and cruising with her best friend, Mary. She loved everything Christmas related. She looked forward to Saturday night dinners with her family. She enjoyed watching her British television series and of course watching or attending Dallas Stars hockey games.

Joanna is survived by daughter Jessica Lauren McDowell; favorite son-in-law, James Paul McDowell; brother, Earl L. Ferguson Jr. (Peggy); sister-in-law, Karen King Leeper (Scott); grandson, Chase McDowell (Ashston); great-grandchildren, Addison and Bryson McDowell; best friend of 41 years, Mary Larson; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends.

Joanna was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clifford Lee King; her parents; sister, Sheila F. Place; brothers, Landon C. Ferguson (survived by Rhonda) and John F. Ferguson; brother-in-law, Jesse O. King.

The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of life for visitation and reception on July 18, 2026 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth located at 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76134.

The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Joanna's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
