He was born in Cooper, TX on January 24, 1928 to father, William Frederick Glosup and mother, Ella Glenn Shepherd. Joe was born at home, so his birth certificate read baby Glosup since his parents had not settled on a name for him. After Joe graduated high school in 1945, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He married Billie Jo Green whom he had met through mutual friends on October 8, 1948. After the Korean War, he worked for the Corps of Engineers which led them on many adventures by living in different areas of Texas. Joe and Billie had 4 children, Susie Murrell of Weatherford, Patricia Bucklin of Ft Worth, Carol Jordan of Kingwood, and Robert Glosup of Ft Worth, TX. Joe was always a big kid that loved playing outdoors along with all of the neighborhood kids when he wasn’t working a side job of repairing cars, fixing house problems or pouring concrete for a neighbor’s patio or driveway. Joe and Billie loved each other unconditionally and taught their children to do the same as well as loving our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Joe was a hardworking husband, loving Dad and was known to his 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild as “Grandaddy” or “Papa the Great”. Joe and Billie were avid Round Dancers for 30+ years. Billie made Joe matching shirts to her many self-made dresses and petticoats. Joe and Billie were also avid Bridge players, winning many tournaments.
Joe was a gift from Father God and has now returned home to join his loving wife, Billie and family who predeceased him. Joe and Billie’s children all expect to see their parents dancing through Heaven when they return home to our Lord.
