

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Beach Street Baptist Church, 2220 N. Beach St. in Haltom City with Brother Nathaniel Daves of Beach Street Baptist Church officiating.
John was born in Agra, Oklahoma to Eddie Palmer and Caddo Anadarko Halcomb on December 21, 1935. He went to school in Oklahoma. He married Sylvia Valon McRae on June 16, 1955 in Telephone, Texas at the Justice of Peace. During the years, John worked as a farmer, as a sanitation worker, cashier, school custodian, as a Special Education school bus attendant, and for 23 years, he and Sylvia owned and operated, J.R.'s Moving service. Also, he was employed as a machinist at Vought Corporation and for American Manufacturing. He was an active member of Beach Street Baptist Church for for 53 years where sang the choir, participated youth programs and was a deacon.
John is preceded in death by his father, Eddie; mother, Caddo; his sister, Doris Ann Naylor; brother, Thomas Newton Halcomb; and three of his children: daughters, Connie Lynn Halcomb, Alona Kay Gallant; and son, John Dale Halcomb; and a great grand baby, Lela Kay Barrientes.
John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sylvia Halcomb. His daughter, Nancy Ann Alevras (and her spouse, Perry). His brothers: Kenneth Halcomb (and his spouse, Judy) and Wayne Halcomb.
He was a caring and loving grandfather of five grandchildren: Jeriamy Linn Halcomb (and his spouse, Karen), Charles Frank Gallant IV, Richard Dale Patrick Gallant (and his spouse, Courtney), Constance Ann Meadville (and her spouse, Andrew) and Emily Kay Barrientes (and her spouse, Candelerio). He was a proud great- grandfather to Eliana Lanai Barrientes and Legend O'Ryan Barrientes.
He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends of which he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given online to the Alzheimer's Organization in honor of John Halcomb.
The family of John wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Hurst Plaza Nursing and Rehab Center for their care while John was a resident there. As well as friends from Beach Street Baptist Church and the many relatives and friends for their love and prayer support through the years.
