John Julius Moore, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on June 12, 2019, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 87 years old. John was born August 12,1931 in Waxahachie, Texas to Thomas & Mary Moore. He was raised with his sisters Bonnie, Nellie, Bettye, and Laverne at the Texas Baptist Home for Children from age 3. He served 3 years in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He sailed on the U.S.S. Bairoko Aircraft Carrier to Hong Kong, Japan, Guam, and the Hawaiian Islands. After leaving the Navy, John moved to Dallas, Texas, and lived with his oldest sister, Bonnie, and nieces. He worked at Love Field fueling airplanes. In 1960, John married his first wife, later moving to Des Moines, Iowa where his son, Richard John, was born. They were divorced in 1963. John met Jane in August, 1964. They were married on August 28, 1965, and moved to Ft. Worth, Texas. They were married 54 years having two daughters, Pam and Deborah. John graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in 1972, and worked at started at Westside State Bank, transitioning to Bank of Ft. Worth, Texas American Bank, and Chase Bank. He worked 21 years in the banking field as an auditor and in the accounting department before retiring in 1993. John was an active member of Polytechnic UMC for 47 years where he served on the Board of Trustees for many years. He was a faithful member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. John bowled on several bank leagues and with his sister, Nellie. He loved playing the ‘42’, especially on Friday nights with Jo and Greg Hudgins. John enjoyed camping with Jane and daughters, especially at Tyler State Park. He loved his dog, a Welsh Corgie named Cindy, and spending time with her and giving her too many treats. John enjoyed working with his hands and doing handyman work for family and friends. He spent many hours helping church members and doing church repairs. He looked forward to their trips to visit Pam and family in New Hampshire. He loved doing projects for Pam at her home during their visits. Home or New Hampshire he was always ready to go to Wendy’s.
John and Deborah were very much alike and understood each other very well. Deborah was very patient with her father and would help him whenever he had computer problems, which John greatly appreciated.
As grandson Christian said: He loved us. He is predeceased by his daughter Deborah (Hoover) and his 4 sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane, daughter, Pam, husband Darren and their sons, Wesley and Christian, son, Richard and his children, Stephanie, Cari, Nick, his granddaughters, Brianna, Bailey, and Beth (Deborah’s children).
