John served in the US Army from November 1967 to November 1969, where he earned the Army Commendation Medal - First Oak Leaf Cluster for Meritorious Service and the Army Commendation Medal – With “V” Device for Heroism in the Republic of Vietnam. He also earned a Purple Heart.
On May 26, 1972, John married Jacqueline Morris. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before his death. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He took care of everyone and everything. He was the one who led the family activities, building things, fixing things, holiday celebrations, vacations, camping, fishing, trips to the park, playing games, and living life. He will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his wife, his son Matt, and his grandchildren, Caleb, Maddox, Haley, and Logan.
A committal will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX on July 31, 2026, at 11:15 AM.
