A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:30 on Wednesday, June 13 at Laurel Land Funeral Home led by Reverend Keith Kraakevik, Dr. Michael Bishop and Reverend Danny Miller.
Graveside ceremonies will be conducted at DFW National Cemetery on Thursday, June 14th at 10:00 a.m.
Joy was born on January 27, 1941 to Dr. James H. Dickinson and Vivian Merle Stiles Dickinson in Dallas, Texas. After attending many different schools across the United States and overseas leading to her lifelong ability to quickly create meaningful and lasting friendships, she graduated from Edgewood High School in 1958 and received her Bachelor's in Science from University of Corpus Christi in 1963. She married her first love, Robert Louis Kraakevik on August 10, 1957 and enjoyed 48 years of marriage. Her love of education continued with a career in teaching in which she taught various subjects at nearly every grade level of elementary school but she found her true calling when she was Ordained in 2007 and spent her time in Bible study, prayer and worship. Joy held the distinction of being family matriarch and was beloved by numerous nieces and nephews. Of all her blessings, she cherished her family the most. Daughter, Kay Lynn Martin (Thomas), Jan Beth Kneupper (Cary) and Jeanne Dee Trieger (Kirk Taylor)). Grandchildren, Brittany (Jose), James, Dylan (Jacquelyn), Cody, Shay, Lane, Isaac, Aaron, Claire and Lauren. Great-grandchildren, Jack, Liam, Scarlett and Khal. Visitation will be from 11:30 -12:30 on Wednesday, June 13 prior to the Celebration of Life service. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the charity of their choice. Laurel Land Funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
