
Joyce was an only child, born on September 17, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas to Edna Perry Deckler and Hyman Deckler. Throughout life, Joyce was known for her love of literature and was an avid reader. She devoted her time and energy to family genealogy, listening to opera music, participating in book club and connecting with people via email and Facebook
Joyce attended Paschal High School in Fort Worth then Texas Christian University, earning a degree in English Literature. After graduation, Joyce remained at home caring for her mother until her mother's death. Joyce sold the family home near TCU and moved to an apartment.
Joyce is survived by many first cousins, including Nancy Anne Ward of Mishawaka, IN, Mary Anne Morton of Black Jack, TX, F.L. (Dan) Dauenhauer Jr. of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, William Perry Hudson of Corpus Christi, TX, Edward Hudson of Bay City, TX, Diane Hudson Kohler of Kansas, Mary Phyllis White Parvin of Cleburne, TX, Guy Perry IIl of Austin, TX, Reverend Edna Francis Moore of Manassas, VA, Milton Perry of Fernley, NV, John Perry of Reno, NV, and other family and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Edna and Hyman Deckler, aunts and uncles including Nancy Alexander Forman, Thomas Alexander, F.L ( Lester) and Floy Dauenhauer Sr., Mary Anne and William Loren Hudson, Lillian Augusta and French R White Jr., Guy Stockton Jr. and LeWana Perry and first cousins Robert Alexander, F. Robertson White III, Douglas Hayden Perry, Augusta Corinne Guthrie, LeWana Mary Perry, Patricia Hudson McCallum and Jane Augusta Dauenhauer Callahan.
A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at the graveside at Laurel Land Memorial Parkway, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 1pm.
Joyce's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
