

Joyce Summons was born on March 2, 1942, in Tennessee Colony, Texas, to Calvin and Jessie Brown. She attended school in Tennessee Colony and graduated from Massey Lake High School. She later married Julian Summons, and together they were blessed with two daughters.
Joyce dedicated over 30 years of service to the United States Postal Service, where she earned numerous awards and recognitions for her commitment and excellence. In addition to her professional life, she was an ordained minister who faithfully shared her love and devotion to God, touching many lives both in her community and beyond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Brown and Jessie Brown; her siblings, Helen Smith, Grace Lester, Willie C. Brown, Rosemary King, Othell (Skipper) Brown, Calvin (Bud) Brown Jr., (twins) Willie Brown and Jessie Brown, (twins) Samuel Brown and Allen Brown.
She leaves behind a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts: her daughters, Pamela Morris and Rhonda White; son-in-law, Leo Morris Jr.; and the daughters she lovingly embraced and raised as her own, Trashon Morrison, Shana Hines, and Kim Houston. She is also survived by her siblings, James Bell and Ida Hathman. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Christopher Counts, Briana White, Bianca White, Dominique Johnson, Zachary Morris, Payton Morris, Desmond Morris, Leo Morris III, Savannah Morris, Leo Morris IV, and Sanaa Morris—along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
