A Viewing for Julia will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Visitation with the family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM) at Laurel Land Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76112.
Celebration of Life will occur Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Carol Gibson of St. Andrews United Methodist Church officiating. Burial to follow at Laurel Land Rose Hill Cemetery.
Julia was born in Webster, LA, to Henry and Bessie Reed on September 27, 1943. She went to school at Paul Laurence Dunbar School. She graduated from Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. She married James Wendell McIlveen in January 1966, and from this union was born their daughter, Chelsea. She worked as an educator, juvenile probation officer, and for the City of Fort Worth for 25 years.
Julia went to be with Lord on August 30, 2026. She now joins those who preceded her in death: her father, Henry Reed; her brother, Travis Kelly; her beloved daughter, Chelsea McIlveen; her father who raised her, Willie Greene; sister, Cheryl Carey; and her cherished mother and best friend, Bessie Greene.
Those left with cherished memories: Grandson, Brandon McIlveen and his wife Jennifer; Granddaughter, Brianna Harris; Sister, Eva Renee Thomas; Great-granddaughters, Charleigh & Marleigh McIlveen; Lifelong friend, Vernita Polk; and a host of loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Brandon McIlveen, James Steptoe, Anthony Calton, Kristina Russell, Kevin Howard, Ashton Harding, and Ashaune Harding. Honorary Pallbearers: Doug Thomas, Jr., and Mark Rogers.
We believe the love you all shared gave her the strength to live a long, loving life. She was blessed!
