Julie Maxwell, age 65, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus on Friday, April 19, 2024 following a short illness. It was discovered while Julie was in the hospital, that she had two rare and aggressive forms of blood cancer. Julie was surrounded by a constant flow of loving family and friends, including Pastor Max Brennan from St. Matthew’s Methodist Church in Fort Worth, where Julie had been a member for many years.
Julie was born March 18th, 1959 in Fort Worth Texas and had just turned 65 shortly before her passing. Julie was always an active member in the community in which she lived, giving much of herself to her favorite charitable organizations over the course of decades. She was a huge supporter of both human as well as animal rights, safety and care. She personally rescued at least 250 feral cats over the decades, catching them and having them spayed or neutered. She was very passionate about the causes she held dear. She was a supporter of PETA, SPCA, the Humane Society, Eastside Ministries, the PKD foundation and many many more.
Julie and her beloved husband Tracy had been together for almost 40 years at the time of her passing. Julie was an Eastern Hill High School graduate, class of 1976 (graduating a year early). She attended TCJC and later the University of Texas at Arlington where she majored in Criminal Justice. She was a strong advocate for children and loved working hands on with them for years at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Julie had also worked for the Kimbell and Cowgirl Museums for many years as well. In addition, Julie had also dedicated 25 years of service to AT&T.
Julie loved her British and Scottish comedies, which gave her much laughter and joy. She cherished memories of growing up with her 3 sisters, neighborhood and school friends in our Meadowbrook community. As a young girl Julie’s bedroom walls were covered in Donny Osmond pictures and she adored the color purple. Julie loved drives to the country, elementary school carnivals, especially the cake walks and raffles. Christmas was her very favorite season.
Julie had a beautiful singing voice and sang in a band in college and at the weddings of family and friends. She was very passionate about music and the arts. She loved to cook, to travel and was an avid reader as well. She had a wonderful smile and loved to laugh as well as make others laugh.
Julie is preceded in death by her Mother, Nancy Wallis Calvin and her Father Lloyd Douglas Elliston. Julie is survived by her beloved husband Tracy, Sisters Cindy, Joanie and Mary and their families and by many other dear family members and friends. The family takes great comfort in knowing that Julie is healed and whole in Heaven and we will cherish the happy memories of her on earth until we meet again.
