Larry was born on September 27, 1940, in Coleman, Johnston Co., Oklahoma to JD “Jack” and Lorene Dennis. He was an older brother to Norma and spent much of his childhood moving around Oklahoma, Arizona, California, and Texas.
He graduated from Birdville High School in 1958 and joined the US Army in 1963. During his 2 years of service, his superiors were impressed with determination to be the best as well as his typing skills. He was privileged enough to be the preferred driver for many officers wherever he was posted.
Larry married twice with Peggy Brown being the love of his life, mother to his daughter and son, and support when he started his successful textile business, Larry Dennis Company, on January 1, 1979. His favorite hobby was roping and his affiliation with National Old Timers Roping Association, where he served as president for many years. He also proudly supported the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate.
Throughout his life he loved horses, roping, hunting & fishing. His proudest accomplishments were his business, family, his relationship with God and roping. He loved to visit with anyone who would talk to him, family, friends, or strangers. He was strongly opinionated on politics, and religion4 but loved to share his knowledge on business, horses, and the Bible. He loved reading and learning. He loved sharing his knowledge and was even more impressed when he could learn something from other people. If it was memorable enough, he didn’t hesitate to write it down in his pocket notebook that he always kept on him. He tended to look for the best in people, even when they did him wrong, was willing to help you out if you asked.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Terri Rocha, granddaughter, Lucy Rocha, sister Norma Hughes and her husband Bruce, nephew Kirk Hughes, niece Lorinda Mitchell and her husband Earl, great nephew Tyler McCarty and great niece, Rachael Mitchell.
He was proceeded in death by his son, Casey Dennis, his parents Jack and Lorene Dennis, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and is favorite wife, Peggy.
