

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Herschel Larry Whitfield, a devoted family man, dedicated IT professional, and deeply committed Mason, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 4:58 AM. He was 86 years old.
Larry was born on March 10th, 1940, in San Angelo, Texas, to the late Herschel and Lou Whitfield. Growing up in Texas, he developed a sharp, analytical mind and a strong work ethic that served him well throughout his life. Larry went on to forge a distinguished career in the rapidly evolving field of Information Technology and selling Data Centers services, working at Comdisco for 20+ years, where his technical acumen and problem-solving skills were highly valued by his colleagues.
Beyond his professional achievements, Larry’s life was defined by his unwavering service to his community and fraternal organizations. He was exceptionally active within the Freemasons and the Order of the Eastern Star, embodying their core principles of charity, fellowship, and brotherly love. Over decades of dedicated service, Larry built deep, lifelong friendships and left an indelible mark on his lodges and chapters.
Larry was reunited in death with his beloved wife of 54 years, Marquetta Ann Whitfield; his parents, Herschel and Lou Ellen Whitfield; and his sister, Larue Evans, alongside her husband Walt Evans.
His legacy of kindness and devotion lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his sisters, Linda Fielding and her husband Frank, and Debbie Goolsby and her husband Bill. He leaves behind his devoted children: Carol Whitfield, David Whitfield, Eliza Lott, and Chris Whitfield and his wife Aimee. Larry was a proud grandfather to Callie Gil; Amanda Cook and her husband Michael; Austin Lott and his wife Laura; Cooper Whitfield; and Alexis Lewis and her husband Scott. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Connor Cook, Nolan Cook, Jack Lott, and Hudson Lewis.
Larry will be remembered as a man who dedicated himself to the service of others. His warmth, guidance, and the stories he shared will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Laurel Land Funeral Home & Memorial Park, located at 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, Texas 76134. A public viewing will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Chimes. Interment will take place immediately following the service.
