It is with great sadness that the family of Sue Taylor announces her passing on February 1, 2025, at the age of 87. Sue was born on September 2, 1937, to Preston and Sylvia Taylor in Temple, Texas. She graduated from Temple High School and went on to live a life full of love, faith, and kindness.
In 1954, Sue married Allen Boatwright, her one and only love of her life, and together they raised four daughters: Sherry, Alicia, Carla and Kindra. Sue’s greatest joy was being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and her love for them knew no bounds.
Sue was a true servant of the Lord. In 1966, the family joined an Exodus to New Jersey, to help establish the Garretson Road Church of Christ, which continues today. After returning from New Jersey, the family attended Midtown Church of Christ, in Ft. Worth. For many years, she served as a greeter at The Hills Church in North Richland Hills, where she became known for her warm smile and welcoming spirit. She loved connecting with others and was a faithful presence in her church community.
In addition to her service at church, Sue worked at Southwest Christian School, teaching and nurturing 3-year-olds before becoming the Director of Preschool Enrichment. Her impact on young children and their families was profound. Sue also worked as a nanny for four families, forming lifelong friendships and becoming a beloved figure in their lives.
Sue loved the beach and Elvis, even naming her companion dog Elvis.
Sue’s kindness, selflessness, and infectious smile left a lasting mark on everyone she met. Her love for her family, her faith, and her community was evident in everything she did.
Sue is survived by her daughters Sherry (Bob) Barnes, Alicia (Thomas) Chadwick, Carla Harrington (Curtis Land), and Kindra (David) Needham; her 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Preston and Sylvia Taylor, sister Barbara Murphy, brother Hal Taylor, grandson Nathan Schartz, niece Jill Fooks, beloved dog Elvis, and the girls father, Allen Boatwright.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Hills Church Chapel on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at11.00 am. The family would like to thank the care team and staff at Emerald Hills Care Center, that loved on and cared for our sweet mother. You know who you are and we were blessed! In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christ Haven, 4200 Keller Hadley Rd, Keller, Tx 76244.
