

Leaner Bertha Higgins was born May 10, 1933, in Fort Worth, TX to Aaron and Bertha Higgins.
Leaner attended school in Fort Worth and was an honor graduate from I.M. Terrell High School in 1950. After graduation she went on to attend Huston Tillotson College and obtain a B.A. She taught for several years in the Mathematics Department with the FWISD and received various honors and recognition including Teacher of the Week and Month before retiring to take care of her dear mother.
She professed Christ at a young age and worked faithfully in the church. She was a charter member of Collin Street Missionary Baptist Church for over six decades and received in later years the honor of "Mother of the Church". Her faith and service to Christ was steadfast and worked as announcement clerk, church secretary, President of Usher board, Treasurer and wherever needed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Elijah Higgins, Willie Catherine Pointer, and Charlie Higgins.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Milton Higgins (Charlene), Fort Worth; Deborah Higgins, Fort Worth; Wyvette Covington (Billy), Arlington; Charlotte Harris, Fort Worth. Grandchildren: Quincy Higgins, Nigel Higgins, Kerrick Covington (Tamika), Kevin Covington (Dia), Simone Higgins, Angelic Higgins, Bianca Higgins, Great-Grandchildren:
QuinTrece Higgins, Jacolby Bursey, Alina Covington, Evan Covington, Quincy Higgins Jr., Great Great Grandchild: Daelin Higgins. Special Friend: Denise Brookins along with a host of other relatives and friends.
